Sit back, relax and learn what makes Dave who he is.
Dave is an unusual character. He has been building websites since 1994 and has nearly 600 clients in 8 countries and over 40 states. He is a self-taught web designer and programmer. This short biography below will tell you more about Dave than you want to know. It makes great reading material is you have a touch of insomnia.
Educational Background & Previous Work Experience
Dave has a B.S. in Biochemistry with a strong emphasis in Chemistry. He received his degree from Lebanon Valley College in 1990. Dave is a member of the TKE fraternity. Dave had most fun in the laboratory, so after college, his first job was in a chemical testing laboratory. His focus was on metals testing and was the Metals Testing Laboratory Supervisor. He tested various substances for metals including: lead, zinc, cadmium, selenium, arsenic, mercury, aluminum, etc. It was a great job. Dave developed a very unique analysis for Arsenic trivalent (As+3) and was the only one east of the Mississippi to perform the test at the time. Once the kids started coming, Dave decided it wasn't best to keep working with deadly metals.
Dave moved to Wilton Armetale, where he held various positions and learned web design. While at Wilton, Dave led the foundry to become the first self-declared ISO 14001 certified foundry in the world. He was solicited to write two books on environemental management. BUY HIS BOOKS (book 1 here - book 2 here)! (Yes, a shameless plug....).
While at Wilton, Dave started his business. Within six months, he had 40 clients and decided it was a time to make "a go" of it and left Wilton to do web design full-time. His wife almost had a heart attack when it happened, but it was the right decision at the time. Schell's Web Design has kept Dave very busy, which leaves him little time for golf, one of Dave's favorite things to do.
Dave will probably be doing Schell's Web Design for another 50 years. There's lots of work out there!
Dave is married to a beautiful wife and has 3 beautiful girls. He is very involved at his church: St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Mount Joy, PA. Dave helps with the after school program, youth program, and is on various teams in the church.
Dave tends to dress in costume frequently. He's been a cowboy, spaceman, mad scientist, crocodile, pirate, Hawaiian hula guy and a chicken. There's rumors that he will be a giant polar bear in the winter.
While not designing websites and dressing in costumes, Dave likes to do woodworking, listen to music, watch horror movies, play pool and play computer games. Dave is currently in final edits for his first non-fiction book. Cross your fingers, toes and eyes so it can be turned into a movie sometime soon.
